山本順子　陶歴

山本順子は、福井県武生市に生まれ、茨城、東京、千葉（日本）で成長しました。彼女は１８歳で陶芸専門学校で陶芸を始めました。始めに多大な影響を与えた陶芸家は、父の生家の近くに住む陶芸家山田　和と、在学中に工房に留学したＮ.Ｚの陶芸家夫妻、Roy&Pat Addisonです。Addison夫妻は山本順子を最初で最後の弟子として、師事しました。また、1６歳の頃からずっと美術指導を受けた、国際的に活躍する銅版画家宮山広明からも多大な影響を受けています。卒業後、1996年に横浜の「（株）KOKONOTUIDO」で社員になり、陶器の製作デザインを担当しました。1998年にFirenze Itaryの陶芸工房に留学します。その頃から、世界中の遺跡や美術館を見て、自分のスタイルを見つける為に２０カ国以上放浪します。その中で彼女は心から感動したもの、美しいと思ったものを心の中に貯め、ひたすら作品を作り続け、自分のスタイルを確立していきます。彼女は、特に紀元前のギリシャ、エジプトの器のフォルムや、日本で「わび」と言われる、使い込まれて朽ち果てた様な物や、古びた建物等の、古びた味わいを帯びた、消えゆく物の美を好みます。それを、彼女のモダンでスタイリッシュな感覚と融合し、独自の美しい作品を完成させました。
今まで、個展は日本では何度も、また、Itaryでも行っています。
今回順子は、ＮＹでは初めての個展を開催します。

Junko Yamamoto Bio:
Junko Yamamoto was born in Takefu-city, Fukui, and she grew up in Ibaraki, in Tokyo, in Chiba (Japan). She began ceramic art at 18 years old in a ceramic art vocational school. Firstly the ceramist who had a great influence was ceramist KAZ YAMADA. He lives near her father’s parents’ home. And ceramist married couple Roy&Pat Addison in N.Z which she went to study to the atelier while attending school. They decided to have Junko Yamamoto as a first and a last pupil. In addition, She comes under great influence from copperplate painter Hiroaki Miyayama playing an active part globally. He has given art guidance to her since she was 16 years old all the time. After graduation, she started working for KOKONOTUIDO of Yokohama Co., Ltd. in 1996 and was in charge of a production design of the ceramics. She went to study to the ceramic art atelier of Firenze Itary in 1998. From that time, she roamed more than 20 countries to see ruins and art museums all over the world, and to find her style in those days. She keeps saving the one to have been impressed sincerely and what thought to be beautiful in her mind, making her works earnestly, and established her style in that. She especially likes containers form of Greece and Egyptian in B.C. and go tinged with “Wabi(austere refinement)” called in Japan and the old taste such as the thing which it is embezzled, in and seem to have rotted away or the old building, so the beauty of the thing which is disappeared, in particular. It was united with the sense that she was modern and stylish, and an original, beautiful works were completed. The solo exhibition held in Japan many times and so far in Italy. Junko will hold the first solo exhibition in NY this time.

私が順子と知り合ってからは長く、初めて彼女の作品を拝見した事を思い出します。私は共通の友人を通して東京で彼女に会いました、そして、暫くしてから彼女に私は、イタリア・フィレンツェ近くの丘の小さくてかなり有名な町、グレーブインキャンティのギャラリーで常設展示していた彼女の陶器を、移動することを頼まれました。それらの陶器は、フィレンツェのドゥオモ近辺の他のギャラリーで、その前年に彼女が大きい展示を催した時のものでした。私がギャラリーに入ったとき、初めて見る多くの美しい作品を見て驚き楽しい気分になりました。彼女には鮮明で敏感な創造力があります。そして、少し風変わりで、優雅です。彼女のランプ、花器、カップと陶箱等様々な作品達は、非常にダイナミックで、新しいです。彼女のアートワークは、単純な陶器でなく非常に洗練された彫刻です。同時に、それらは日常生活の家の中に生きた空間を与えます。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　ジュエリーアーティスト・元GUCCIデザイナー モニカ・マエストリ　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　I have known Junko for many years now and still remember the first time I saw her work. I met her in Tokyo through a good common friend and she asked me to pick up her ceramics in a gallery in Greve in Chianti, Italy, a little and pretty well-known town in the hills around Florence, Italy, where the year before she had a big exhibition. When I went into the gallery I was pleasantly surprise to see so many beautiful creations. She has a vivid and sensitive creativity, a little eccentric but refined. Her lamps, vases, cups and little boxes are very dynamic and new. Her artwork is not just a simple ceramic but very sophisticated sculptures. At the same time they have a place in home in everyday life.

I find Junko’s ceramic lamps, vases, cups and small objects to be a little strange; everyday objects moving about aimlessly or irregularly. They are simultaneously balance and in balance, original in design and seem to have a life of their own. Her works are painted with a beautiful textured lacquer and various technique. In short, they are a pleasure to look at and continuously invite you re-visit them.

アーティストになるためには、やはり才能が必要だということを知りました。
才能といってもいくつもの才能が必要です。それらに優先順位をつけるとすれば、
①好奇心、②向上心、③継続力
この３つは山本順子が幸運にも持ち合わせているものです。
④センス、⑤器用さ
この２つは、努力とあらゆる経験の積み重ねでようやく手に入れることができます。
そのことを彼女は証明してくれました。
今日の山本の作品は、たんに美しいというだけではなく、彼女のあらゆる経験の集大成でもあります。
作品の厚みと奥行きは、豊かな人間性が生み出すものです。

From my experience that I have been an art teacher for 30 years, after all I knew that talent was necessary to become an artist.
And I think many talents are necessary. If I prioritize them,
① Curiosity ② spirit of self-advancement ③ continuation power
Junko Yamamoto has these 3 luckily.
④ Sense ⑤ skillfulness
I can finally obtain these 2 by accumulation of an effort and every experience.
She proved it.
I think that Yamamoto’s today’s works are not only merely beautiful, but also her collected studies of every experience.
The thickness and the depth of the works come afrom rich human nature.
